The Importance of a User name

18 Jan 2009 0 Comments

Alot of people ask me why I use nicknames such as “miralize”. And the answer is quite simple. A user name is an essential way to create interest, readership, and eventaully helps you monitize your websites. It both familiarize the user with its readers, yet maintaining a certain level of anonymity. It gives you an opportunity to brand yourself, while it gives the reader an opportunity to remember you. A username works most effectively when it is used across several website accounts, so you can maximaize your audience, by For example, I use “miralize” on Flickr, Twitter, Facebook, Bebo (unfortunately), Jaiku, Last.fm and many others. As to checking if your username is unique and not used by others you can search on this site.

It is quite tasking coming up with a user name that is both unique and effective. It has to be to the point, interesting, and rememberable. Some people use their names (fi0nak ), something important to them, or just something funny, interesting, odd, unique, or anything for that matter (TrustTommy). I dont recall as to how I created “miralize” but if i remember correctly its a grouping of the words “mirror” and “realize”. I’ll leave the interpretation up to you.
